The Causes of EndometriosisEndometriosis is a female problem that has to do with the reproductive system. In short, it happens when the lining that is found in the uterus can be found in other parts of the body. The adhesive element of this lining will cause problems and pain that can range from the mild to the debilitating. The causes of endometriosis is still unsure. Medical research has yet to pinpoint an exact cause. Nevertheless, some of the theories that have been put forward include genetics, abnormal oestrogen production, metaplasia, abnormal menstruation, abnormal distribution of the endometriosis cells, environmental toxins, or a basic immunity disorder. Not one of these theories have been conclusively proven to cause endometriosis. However, this does not rule them out at all. In fact, it is difficult because the symptoms can manifest itself as a singular reason or a combination of any of these theories. Since the causes have yet to be conclusively determined, there is then no treatment that will target this condition to cure it. Genetics may play a significant role in this condition because studies show that women who have endometriosis have children who also have the same condition. However, there is a slight difference in that the daughters will have a more serious condition for some reason. Metaplasia means that the endometriosis tissue changes the normal tissue, and this causes the condition to get worse. The abnormal menstruation means that the blood returns to the fallopian tubes and “plants” endometrial cells in the pelvic organs. However, many doctors believe that a menstruation that reverses the flow cannot be solely responsible for any endometriosis condition. It has to work with another cause like a hormone or immune disorder. This is because this kind of menstrual flow is very common among women, and yet does not cause even half of them to develop endometriosis. If a person has a liver problem, this could potentially introduce endometriosis as a side effect. This is because the function of the liver is to remove estrogen from the body. If the liver starts to fail, then it would be like opening the door wide open to a series of conditions, one of which is endometriosis. A woman that has endometriosis can also develop complications like multiple sclerosis or arthritis. Other causes that may lead to endometriosis are too much caffeine, extreme stress, too much alcohol, low fiber in their diet, too much fat in the diet, and a hormone imbalance. With all the different possible causes for endometriosis, and very little ongoing research on the subject matter, the best way to deal with this condition is to observe a healthier lifestyle like eating the right food, and avoiding unhealthy food that you don’t need anyway to begin with.
