How To Handle Hot Flushes and Night Sweats Because of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition that affects many women, and it can be as serious as not being able to work or function normally because of the pain that it accompanies it. Drugs are usually administered to help women deal with the pain, but most of these drugs have side effects that can complicate the situation.

On the other hand, a permanent solution would be surgery but this would be an extremely difficult solution to accept because it could interfere with the possibility of getting pregnant.

Some of the side effects of drug therapy is hot flashes and night sweats. To help women deal with these two symptoms, here are some suggestions that they can consider adopting.

First, they should avoid processed food, too much sugar in their diet, and caffeine. Their diet should be more of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain, food cooked in canola or olive oil, fish, and nuts.

Alcohol should be avoided, including red wine or the occasional brandy or beer. In the same manner, hot drinks like soap, tea, or juice should be kept to a minimum. Drinking lots of water will help because it will flush out toxins and be a natural cleansing agent for the body. It will also keep you refreshed naturally.

Of course, if any of the above recommended food starts an allergic or negative reaction, then stop including it in your diet. Spicy food can also be a trigger food, but not in all cases, so if you want to try a new cuisine, try a sampler first and wait for the reaction or effect before eating more.

Hot flashes also happen because the body temperature drops too much. As such, wearing light clothing in natural fibers like cotton will help you when you start to feel hot. You should also consider layering which you can easily add on to or remove when your body temperature starts to change.

Hot flashes can happen at any time of the day, and when it does, it feels like you are suffocating and appear to have a hard time breathing. Having a hand fan will help you relieve the situation.

If you can, try to start mild, low impact exercises every day. This will help reduce incidents of hot flashes as well as the intensity. Of course, never exercise before sleeping.

The same goes for when you are getting ready for sleep. You will need to wear clothes that are not synthetic or woolen. You should also make sure your sheets are of natural material. You should never sleep immediately after eating anything. Allow a couple of hours to pass to digest your food before retiring for the night. Finally, make sure your room is properly ventilated.
